Tyson Weinert

McMinnville, OR — Tyson Weinert has been named President & CEO of the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, which promotes scientific curiosity and learning about the past and inspires future use of innovation and technology through the lens of aviation and space innovation. Weinert is an accomplished senior leader with a successful career in the public, private, and military sectors and a passion for innovation, education, aviation and delivering unique customer experiences. In his role at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, he will lead a reimagining of every aspect of the Museum while preserving it as a place of inspiration.

Most recently, Weinert was Senior Program Director for the LUMA Institute, a company that provides a system of human-centered design methods to help businesses creatively solve problems. During his tenure, he doubled total revenue to $12 million and developed educational innovation experiences for more than 45 public and private sector clients in LUMA’s portfolio.

Previously, he was a senior officer and aviator in the U.S. Coast Guard for over 20 years where, among his many accomplishments, he led the research, design and implementation of a reimagining of its Innovation Program and introduced the Service’s first crowdsourcing platform that inspired an 88,000-member workforce to improve business processes and data-driven decisions.

The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, welcomes more than 150,000 visitors annually from across the globe to rural McMinnville, Ore., to witness more than 150 aircraft, spacecraft, and exhibits like its rare SR-71 Blackbird, Titan II Space Launch Vehicle (SLV) with its original launch room, and the Hughes Flying Boat Spruce Goose, all of which tell the story of flight and exploration.
