Sonia Shah

Sudbury, MA – Sonia Shah has been selected as Executive Director of The Sudbury Foundation, which strengthens communities through grantmaking and scholarship programs in Sudbury and the surrounding communities. Since moving to the MetroWest region in 2012, she has been an active participant in its nonprofit community and understands the challenges and resources available to families, organizations and communities in the area and the role that The Sudbury Foundation plays as both a collaborator and innovator in the region.

Most recently, Shah served as the Director of Development and Outreach at the Natick Service Council, where she was responsible for spearheading all development efforts, including marketing and public relations, fundraising events and campaigns, and community outreach. Previously, she was the Manager of Foundation and Public Service Programs at the Boston Bar Association and Foundation, Director of Development at MetroWest Legal Services, and Senior Program Officer at The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts. She began her career as a Staff Attorney at a Boston law firm.

Her volunteer and professional activities have included serving as a Board Member of the Friends of the Natick Community Services Department and participating in the inaugural classes of the Foundation for MetroWest Emerging Leaders Academy and the MetroWest Nonprofit Network’s Nonprofit Management Certificate for Practitioners.

The Sudbury Foundation is a private, endowed organization that administers the distribution of approximately $1.5 million in grants and scholarships annually. Grant funding is designed to strengthen the Foundation’s nonprofit partners who are working to solve some of the community’s most pressing social issues.
