Wilmington, DE — Delaware conservation leader Jennifer Adkins has been named Executive Director of the Delaware Nature Society, a leading environmental organization known for its educational programming, conservation and land management leadership, and advocacy efforts.

Adkins brings a deep commitment to improving environmental health, protection and justice in Delaware and the region, and extensive experience in natural resources conservation including land and water protection, environmental advocacy, and land trust administration. She has worked with the Delaware Nature Society on the Clean Water for Delaware campaign and the lower Christina and Brandywine Rivers Remediation, Restoration and Resilience plan. A longtime supporter and member of Delaware Nature Society, Adkins received the Water Warrior Award in 2016 for her leadership in the Clean Water Campaign and regional coalitions.

Most recently, Adkins was Director of the Clean Water Supply for American Rivers, an organization that protects and restores rivers and clean water with a focus on the Delaware River Watershed and Rivers of the Chesapeake. She has also held positions at Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, The Nature Conservancy, Land Trust Alliance, and Brandywine Conservancy.

Delaware Nature Society’s mission is to connect people with the natural world to improve the environment through education, conservation, and advocacy. It is a state affiliate for the National Wildlife Federation and is renowned for educational programming, conservation, and advocacy, providing the tools for communities to take action and promote the health of the environment through land preservation, wildlife protection, and watershed stewardship.
