Jeannie Smith is a communications professional with more than twelve years of experience in marketing and communications across the nonprofit sector. In her new role as the Communications Associate, she brings a proven track record of developing and executing strategic communications for regional and national organizations, with a focus on mission-driven storytelling, audience engagement, and brand clarity.
Throughout her career, Jeannie has worked alongside nonprofit leaders to strengthen how organizations communicate their impact — both internally and externally. Her experience spans marketing strategy, content development, and stakeholder communications, giving her a well-rounded perspective on how messaging shapes organizational culture and public perception. She is particularly passionate about helping teams move from fragmented communications to a cohesive, authentic voice.
Jeannie holds an M.A. from The New School for Social Research and a B.A. from Syracuse University, where an early interest in qualitative research and human systems deepened her understanding of how people and organizations make meaning. She is a certified Nonprofit Lifecycles capacity builder and a member of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA).
Based in Syracuse, NY, Jeannie is an avid traveler and cyclist who finds inspiration in wide open landscapes. She is also working toward conversational fluency in Portuguese, French, German, and Norwegian — one slow and steady language at a time.
