Dedicated leader Vanecia Kerr has been selected as President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, a community-focused nonprofit organization committed to improving lives by advancing education, financial stability, health, and housing well-being for individuals and families across Southern Arizona. Vanecia Kerr brings more than 25 years of experience in the fields of nonprofit leadership, community impact strategy, corporate social responsibility, and collaborative partnership building.
Vanecia Kerr comes to United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona from Mile High United Way, an organization that mobilizes resources and community partnerships to address critical human service needs in the Denver metro area. During her tenure as Chief Impact Officer, she developed and led the organization’s community impact strategy, oversaw a portfolio of programs serving thousands of individuals and families, and engaged cross-sector stakeholders to enhance effectiveness and outcomes.
Previously, she was Regional Executive Director at College Track Colorado, where she supported first-generation students in achieving college success, and she served as Managing Director of Marketing, Communications, and Development for City Year Denver, helping grow community engagement and organizational visibility. Vanecia began her career in the corporate sector, serving in senior leadership roles including Regional Director of Community Affairs for TIAA-CREF, where her work in corporate social responsibility inspired her transition to the nonprofit field.
Vanecia Kerr has been recognized with numerous honors, including 9News Leader of the Year and Woman of Impact by the American Heart Association, and she is active in professional and civic organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Links, Incorporated. She is also a frequent speaker on issues of equity, community innovation, and collaborative action.
