Association executive and nonprofit leader Steve Skodak has been named Executive Director of the Structural Building Components Association, the national trade association representing manufacturers and suppliers of structural building components.

Steve brings more than three decades of leadership experience in trade associations, foundations, fundraising, advocacy, and workforce development. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Building Performance Association and Building Performance Association Foundation, where he led significant organizational growth, expanded national advocacy efforts, increased conference attendance to record levels, and diversified revenue streams through strategic partnerships, contracts, and educational initiatives.

Prior to BPA, Steve served as Executive Director and CEO of the Painting Contractors Association and PCA Education Foundation, where he restored financial stability, led a successful organizational rebrand, and expanded educational programming. Earlier in his career, he served as Executive Director and CEO of the Optimist International Foundation and as Executive Director of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s Mid-America Chapter, building a strong track record of organizational growth, membership engagement, fundraising success, and stakeholder leadership.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications & Marketing from Missouri State University and has earned both the Certified Association Executive (CAE) and Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designations. As Executive Director, he will lead SBCA’s efforts to advance the structural building components industry through advocacy, education, workforce development, and member engagement.
