Animal welfare leader Rebecca Baylies has been named Executive Director of Animal Place, one of the nation’s oldest and largest farmed animal sanctuary and advocacy organizations dedicated to rescue, education, and advancing compassionate treatment of animals.

Baylies brings nearly two decades of experience in animal welfare leadership, nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, and community engagement. She joins Animal Place from the Providence Animal Rescue League (PARL), where she served as Executive Director from 2020 – 2025. In that role, she led a team of 22 staff members and more than 200 volunteers, fosters, and interns while overseeing a $1.6 million budget. Under her leadership, PARL expanded critical community services, growing its Pet Food Pantry program more than fivefold and increasing vaccine clinic services nearly sixfold.

Previously, Baylies served as Director of Development and Communications for Cape Ann Animal Aid, where she partnered on organizational strategy, directed fundraising and communications initiatives, secured grant funding, managed major donor engagement, and oversaw successful annual campaigns and events. She also served as the organization’s spokesperson, increasing public awareness through media appearances and community outreach. Earlier in her tenure with Cape Ann Animal Aid, she held roles as Public Relations Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, helping expand volunteer engagement and strengthen the organization’s visibility and impact.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Baylies is an active member of The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement and previously served on the Board of Gloucester Pride Stride. She holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Endicott College.
