Accomplished healthcare executive Patrick Gulbranson has been selected as Chief Executive Officer of Heartview Foundation, a leading organization dedicated to providing comprehensive addiction treatment, recovery services, and behavioral health care. Gulbranson brings more than two decades of healthcare leadership experience, with a strong track record of advancing access to care, strengthening operational performance, and building mission-driven organizations that serve diverse communities.
Gulbranson joins Heartview Foundation from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, where he currently serves as Vice President of Provider Network Strategy. In this role, he provides leadership across provider contracting, network performance, quality, and population health initiatives, developing innovative strategies that improve affordability, access, and care outcomes. His work has focused on building strategic partnerships and advancing value-based care models to enhance overall system performance and patient experience.
Previously, Gulbranson served as Chief Executive Officer of Family HealthCare, a federally qualified health center providing integrated medical, dental, and behavioral health services to more than 17,000 patients annually. During his tenure, he led the organization through a period of sustained growth and transformation, achieving its strongest financial position, expanding clinical sites and services, and successfully implementing major capital projects, including new clinic development and facility expansions. He also guided the organization through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining high-quality care and strengthening organizational resilience.
Earlier in his career, Gulbranson held senior leadership roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, where he led enterprise strategic planning and oversaw major operational initiatives, including the development of program management and vendor management offices. His experience also includes deep expertise in healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, and long-term strategic planning, supported by a strong foundation in health administration.
Beyond his professional work, Gulbranson has been actively engaged in community leadership, serving on multiple nonprofit and healthcare boards and collaborating with regional partners to strengthen health systems and improve community outcomes. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to expanding access to care, supporting recovery, and improving the health and well-being of individuals and families.
