Accomplished nonprofit and legal leader Margaret Byrnes has been selected as Chief Executive Officer of CASA of New Hampshire, a leading organization dedicated to advocating for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse and neglect. Byrnes brings more than a decade of leadership experience in nonprofit management, legal advocacy, and public policy, with a strong commitment to strengthening communities and advancing equitable outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Byrnes joins CASA of New Hampshire from the New Hampshire Municipal Association, where she has served as Executive Director since 2019. In this role, she has overseen all aspects of the organization’s operations, including legal services, advocacy, finance, and strategic planning, while working closely with a statewide board of directors. She has also played a key role in legislative advocacy, representing the interests of municipalities and working with policymakers to advance effective public policy solutions.
Earlier in her career, Byrnes served as a Staff Attorney with the New Hampshire Municipal Association, where she provided legal counsel to local governments, conducted training and educational programming, and supported policy development through research and advocacy. She also practiced law in private firms, representing clients in a range of matters including municipal law, employment law, and civil litigation, building a strong foundation in legal analysis and client advocacy.
Beyond her professional work, Byrnes has demonstrated a deep commitment to service and child advocacy, serving as a Guardian Ad Litem and mentor with CASA of New Hampshire. Her leadership reflects a strong dedication to ensuring that children and families have access to critical support, resources, and representation.
