Veteran nonprofit leader Jacob Reiter has been named Chief Executive Officer of Second Harvest of the Big Bend, a regional hunger-relief organization dedicated to fighting food insecurity and strengthening communities across the Big Bend region of Florida. Jake most recently served as Interim CEO and previously as Chief Operating Officer, providing executive leadership during a period of organizational transition and growth.
With nearly 20 years of experience addressing hunger, homelessness, and poverty across the Big Bend region, Jacob is committed to strengthening partnerships, expanding access to nutritious food, and engaging the community in the fight against hunger. Under his leadership, Second Harvest continues to deepen its impact across a 16-county service area by supporting a network of partner agencies, advancing innovative programs, and expanding opportunities for community involvement through the Impact Center.
Before joining Second Harvest, Jake held several senior leadership roles with Connecting Everyone with Second Chances (CESC), including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, Director of the Kearney Center, and Executive Director of the Tallahassee-Leon Shelter. Throughout his career, he has led complex human services organizations, expanded housing and support programs, secured grant funding, managed multi-million-dollar budgets, and guided community-focused initiatives serving vulnerable populations.
Jake holds a Master of Social Work from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies from the University of Central Florida. A mission-driven leader with deep roots in the Big Bend region, he will continue building on Second Harvest's commitment to fighting hunger and improving food access for individuals and families throughout North Florida.
