Chief Executive Officer, American Society of Nondestructive Testing
Posted 10/27/2026 · Remote, United States
This role is fully remote.
Founded in 1941 as the American Industrial Radium and X-Ray Society, the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) has grown into the world’s largest technical society for nondestructive testing (NDT) professionals. When performed with precision and expertise, nondestructive testing is largely invisible to the general public. By securing the safety and reliability of the structures and systems that shape people’s daily lives, NDT professionals ensure trust and confidence across industries, infrastructure, and organizations — often without recognition. ASNT aims for a higher vision: to make nondestructive testing a highly respected professional field recognized globally for its role in creating a safer world.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is accountable to the ASNT Board of Directors and serves the Board as the strategic and operational leader of ASNT and its affiliated entities, guiding the organization through its next phase of growth, modernization, and industry leadership. The CEO is responsible for advancing ASNT’s mission while ensuring long-term financial sustainability, strengthening the organization’s position as the leading voice in nondestructive testing, and building value for members, employers, and industry stakeholders. The board seeks a leader who can successfully balance continuity with innovation, preserving ASNT’s reputation and technical credibility while modernizing operations, evolving the business model, and positioning the organization for future growth.
ASNT seeks a seasoned executive who combines association-caliber leadership with sufficient technical and industry fluency to command credibility within the NDT community. There is no single pathway to this role. The successful candidate will understand the significance of standards, certification, workforce development, and professional integrity and will know how to bring expert people together around consequential decisions. Candidates should bring a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and executive experience; advanced education or relevant professional credentials are welcomed. The CEO position is fully remote and requires travel for Board meetings, conferences, stakeholder engagement, and international activities as needed.
Compensation for this position is anticipated to be between $225,000-$270,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
