Ward Blackwell: Executive Director

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Dental Association has hired Ward Blackwell as its new Executive Director. Blackwell has served as Executive Director of the Louisiana Dental Association for the past 20 years and brings extensive knowledge of dental association management and member outreach.

During his tenure, the Louisiana Dental Association received numerous national awards including four Golden Apple Awards and two membership awards from the American Dental Association. In 2019, Blackwell was recognized for his contributions to the dental profession with an honorary fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

He is a member of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana, the American Society of Association Executives, Past President of the Louisiana Society of Association Executives, a Fellow in the Louisiana Academy of Politics and Past President of the American Society of Constituent Dental Executives. Blackwell is also a Past Vice Chair of Louisiana’s Oral Health Coalition, an organization representing numerous professional, private and public stakeholders in improving oral health for all Louisianans.

The Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA) is a tripartite, voluntary professional organization that is a constituency of the American Dental Association (ADA), the largest and oldest national dental society in the world. PDA is one of 53 constituent/territorial societies of the American Dental Association and has approximately 5,000 member dentists throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PDA is comprised of ten district components and 45 locals representing different geographic sections of the state.
