Timothy Johnson: President and CEO

Lexington, KY – Timothy Johnson has joined United Way of the Bluegrass as President and CEO. A veteran nonprofit and public sector professional, Johnson has dedicated most of his career to eradicating poverty and promoting equity and diversity. He has extensive workforce and youth development experience as well as a broad background in program management and operations.

Most recently, Johnson served as Chief Strategy and Impact Officer at United Way of the National Capital Area. In this role, he managed community engagement, volunteerism, capacity building, public policy, marketing and communications, grantmaking, and over $12M in programmatic investments across two states and 11 counties in the Greater Washington D.C. area.

He previously served in leadership roles at United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern NJ, United Way of NYC, and the Robin Hood Foundation, a New York City-based philanthropy. Prior to entering the nonprofit sector, Johnson worked in public service in various roles at the New York City Departments of Employment and Small Business Services, and the NYC Workforce Investment Board.
