Tim Storey: Executive Director

Denver, CO – Tim Storey, a longtime leader within the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), has been appointed Executive Director of the NCSL. He succeeds longtime Executive Director William Pound, who led NCSL for more than 42 years.

Storey has spent the past 30 years working for and studying legislatures—specializing in elections, redistricting, legislative organization and leadership. As Executive Director of NCSL, he will provide leadership and vision to diverse constituencies in achieving NCSL’s goals and implement organizational change in response to the shifting needs of legislatures and a dynamic political environment.

Previously, Storey was the Director of State Services for NCSL. The State Services Division includes several core programs: fiscal research, the Center for Legislative Strengthening, institutional studies, leaders’ services, legislative and staff training, staff services and redistricting and elections.

NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the states, commonwealths and territories. It provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of the states in the American federal system.
