Max Finberg: President and CEO

Max Finberg has joined Foods Resource Bank, soon to be known as Growing Hope Worldwide, as President and CEO. Finberg’s 25-year career reflects a deep understanding of sustainable agricultural development and a desire to inspire and encourage faith leaders and others to end hunger and poverty in both the U.S. and around the world.

Most recently, Finberg was Director in Rome of the United Nation’s World Food Program. In this role, he was part of a team that successfully implemented a strategy to turn proposed deep cuts in the program into a record donation from the U.S. Government. Previously, he was Director of the Corporation for National and Community Service, an AmeriCorps VISTA program, where he led a team that created opportunities for more than 8,000 people to address poverty in their communities.

Prior to that, as Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Finberg managed the Department’s signature anti-poverty initiative and expanded the program from a pilot project in six states to a national effort in 25 states. He has also served as Senior Policy Advisor at The White House during the Obama administration; Director of the Alliance to End Hunger; Department of State foreign service officer; and Senior Legislative Aide to former Congressman Tony Hall.

Finberg holds a Master’s degree from Howard University’s School of Divinity and a Bachelor’s degree from Tufts University.

As a Christian response to hunger, Foods Resource Bank links the grassroots energy and commitment of agricultural communities around the world with the capability and desire of smallholder farmers in developing countries to grow lasting solutions to hunger.
