Mark Jacoby: Executive Director

Coconut Creek, FL – The Foundation for Independent Living, a community-based program for adults with varying cognitive disabilities and developmental delays, has named Mark Jacoby as Executive Director.

Most recently, Jacoby was President & CEO of Gompers, which serves individuals with disabilities in Phoenix, AZ. During his tenure, he increased annual revenues by 50%, doubled the number of program participants, and led all aspects of the organization. Previously, he was Branch Manager of New Horizons Rehabilitation Services, an agency providing vocational training and job placement services for people with disabilities.

He is active in the disability community and in professional associations including serving as Chair of the Arizona Association of Providers for People with Disabilities (AAPPD) and being appointed to the Governor’s State Rehabilitation Council.

The Foundation for Independent Living (FIL) serves the specific needs of high functioning, differently abled young adults, at least 18 years old, who do not require the structure of a group home but still need guidance and supervision to live on their own. Currently, FIL has about 60 residents ranging in age from 21-70 years old. The program provides a residence separate from family but assures a level of supervision that will meet all crisis and emergency needs. It also provides an off-site, daily training facility designed for residents to enhance their vocational, independence, and daily living skills.
