Kathy Soppe: Executive Director

Des Moines,IA- Kathy Soppe has been promoted to Executive Director of the International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was previously Director of Finance/Treasurer for the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

A first generation P.E.O., Kathy was initiated into Chapter LQ, Iowa, in 1994. She has held local chapter offices and served on many committees. As Executive Director, she will oversee the management and operation of the executive office of the International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, as well as the sisterhood’s consistent achievement of its shared mission.

Kathy began her career working in public accounting. In 1994, she was hired as Assistant Treasurer at the executive office of the International Chapter of the P.E.O. She was promoted to Treasurer in 2000 and her title was changed to Director of Finance/Treasurer in 2007.

One of the largest nonsectarian, community-based organizations with nearly 6,000 chapters and almost a quarter of a million members, the International Chapter of the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Sisterhood has brought together over its history more than a half a million women in the U.S. and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education, while supporting and motivating them.

More than 109,000 women have benefited from the organization's educational grants, loans, and awards providing almost $348 million in educational assistance, as well as the advancement of thousands of women through the stewardship of Cottey College, a liberal arts and sciences college for women offering baccalaureate and associate degrees, leadership opportunities, and arts and athletic programs.
