Juan Cantu: Executive Director

Juan Cantu

Brookline, MA – Juan Cantu, an advocate for educational access and success, has been named Executive Director of Steps to Success, Inc., an organization that supports low-income students and students of color in their pursuit of higher education.

Most recently, Cantu was Program Officer of the Education to Career program for The Boston Foundation where he led the Success Boston College Completion initiative, which brings together schools, community-based organizations and higher education to increase college success and career preparation. He was also Co-Chair of the internal Diversity Equity and Inclusion team and has led efforts to promote DEI internally and externally.

Previously he was a Policy Fellow with Empower Schools, an organization that partners with educators and communities to reimagine local education systems towards more equitable life outcomes for all students. Earlier in his career, he provided college success support to high school seniors and college students as a Success Boston coach with the Hyde Square Task Force.

Steps to Success Inc. (STS) is a community-based nonprofit that promotes educational equity in order to close the opportunity gap for students from low-income families in Brookline by expanding their horizons, building on their skills, and supporting their educational journey in order to maximize their life choices. STS has prepared an average of 300 low-income students annually to succeed through after-school and summer enrichment, career readiness, and college preparation and persistence programs.
