Holly Johnson: President

Holly Johnson has been appointed President of the Frey Foundation, a private family foundation based in Grand Rapids, MI. Previously, she was President of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation where under her leadership, the Foundation’s assets nearly doubled in six years. Johnson’s accomplishments also include building the Foundation’s governing body to reflect the community’s diversity, moving the organization from responsive grantmaking to a proactive, impact-driven model, co-founding and funding the Ottawa County’s Housing Next initiative, and leading a $3 million investment in the Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium. Prior to the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation, she was Co-Director of Development for the Greater Ottawa County United Way in Holland, MI. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hillsdale College and a Master of Public Administration in nonprofit administration from Grand Valley State University.

The Frey Foundation was founded in 1974 by Edward and Frances Frey. Today, second and third generation Trustees continue their legacy of supporting nonprofits in West and Northern Michigan that are working to enhance the lives of children and families, protect natural resources, promote the arts, and build community.
