Chelle Travis: Executive Director

Leesburg, VA – SkillsUSA, a national membership association that prepares students for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations to ensure America has a skilled workforce, has named Chelle Travis as Executive Director. Travis brings 17 years of accomplishments and leadership experience in career and technical education to this role. For over a decade, she has collaborated with business and industry, educators, legislators and other state leaders to design curricula, develop programs, draft legislation and advance SkillsUSA to meet the workforce demands in the state of Tennessee and the nation.

Travis joins SkillsUSA after serving the Tennessee Board of Regents as Assistant Vice Chancellor for the Colleges of Applied Technology and as SkillsUSA State Director. Among her many responsibilities, she acted as a spokesperson for the college system and technical education in Tennessee and coordinated all regional and state leadership activities and competitions for SkillsUSA. Previously, she was VP for Career and Technical Education at AdvancED where she oversaw all accreditation activities for career and technical education and managed the process for periodic standards and criteria review and policy formulation.

The heart of SkillsUSA is the work of its over 6,000 Chapters at educational institutions across the country to develop the leadership curriculum for students over the course of the academic year.
