Brian Trader: President and CEO
Richmond, VA – Public gardens leader and educator Brian Trader has been announced as President & CEO of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Trader brings to this role a deep commitment to public gardens and extensive experience in leadership positions at some of the country’s premier public gardens.
Trader currently serves as Deputy Executive Director and Director of Horticulture at the Delaware Botanic Garden where he manages one of America’s newest public gardens. Since its grand opening in 2019, he has expanded two new garden areas, secured competitive grants, and built a programming calendar to engage the gardens’ diverse community.
Previously, he served as Director of Domestic and International Studies at Longwood Gardens. During his tenure, he mentored and supervised over 700 emerging public horticultural professionals from around the world and collaborated with public garden leaders throughout the Philadelphia region, the U.S. and internationally to facilitate research, student and staff exchange, and outreach.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden connects people through plants to improve communities. The Garden serves the region through brilliantly designed landscapes, immaculately maintained plant collections, innovative educational experiences, expanding community engagement initiatives, and advocacy for the stewardship of natural resources. Annually, LGBG engages over 17,000 students in innovative education programs and welcomes more than 400,000 annual visitors to the Garden.
