Angela Brown Gilliam: President and CEO
St. Louis, MO – Angela Brown Gilliam has been selected as Chief Executive Officer of Meds & Food for Kids, an organization dedicated to saving the lives of Haiti’s malnourished children and other nutritionally vulnerable people.
Gilliam brings a track record of programmatic leadership, developing staff both locally and abroad, managing administrative and financial systems, overseeing communications and fundraising, and establishing relationships to promote growth and sustainability.
Most recently, Gilliam was Executive Director of ServeHAITI, a partner of Meds & Food for Kids that provides healthcare to 60,000 rural Haitians. In this role, she led operations, developed public health initiatives and community partnerships, and cultivated national and international avenues of growth and collaboration with the aim of increasing overall revenue and quality of programs. Gilliam has also worked for the United Nations and the U.S. Department of State in such countries as Cuba, Germany and Syria.
Meds & Food for Kids (MFK) accomplishes its mission by meeting the essential nutritional needs of malnourished children, pregnant and nursing women and school children using Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTFs) produced in its factory in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. MFK has treated nearly 312,000 children in Haiti and another 118,267 in 14 other countries, educated over 2,400 peanut farmers, fed in excess of 32,000 school children, and provided factory jobs for 66 Haitians.
